While the long-term effect of the pandemic on the shipping industry remains to be seen, the pandemic’s immediate impact on seafarers has already been observed, creating unprecedented challenges with safety implications. Leadership and Teamwork proved to be valuable in dealing with disruptive situations, while the pressure which was put on seafarers and shipping companies alike, revealed the need for a new mindset.
